Dark and Smokey

I absolutely love the look of smokey eyes. However, what I don't love is trying to create them. If there were two things - makeup wise - that I wish I could perfect, it would definitely be winged liner and a flawless smokey eye. But until then, I'm going to have to make do with this feeble attempt.

Onto my lids went Mac's Rubenesque, followed by a gold and bronze smokey eye using the Naked 2 palette. I then went in and added a whole array of dark grey shades from the ELF 100 palette, into the crease as well as on the outer thirds. For eyeliner, I used Natural Collection's liquid liner on the upper lashline and a Wet n Wild khol along the waterline.

Next I used Sheer Cover's lengthening mascara* to coat just my upper lashes. For blush I used Bourjois' Nude Velvet and Revlon's Bronze Glow was my highlighter of choice. Finally, on my lips is Revlon's Berry Smoothie lip butter.

I should probably mention the elephant in the room - the pink zebra onesie. This was actually the makeup I wore when I went to see Bastille, and these photos were taken during the mad rush between getting home and going back out again!

Can you create a perfect smokey eye?

  2. This look is stunning. I hate creating smokey eyes, I end up looking like a panda. I love how subtle the smokeyness is, makes a great day through to night look!
