I love nail art. I've posted many a NOTD here on Becca's Fashion and Life, but one style I've never tried is a floral (Read:Cath Kidston) type design with a dark autumny base colour. Purely because I don't tend to wear pastels in the winter, give me a navy or burgundy any day!
To start off with, I painted my nails with Nails Inc's Queensgate Mews, it's a gorgeous blackened plum shade, that dries to a lovely glossy finish. But, after I'd painted them, I decided they were too dark for my liking - stupid paler than pale skintone!
So instead of taking it all off, I decided to do some nail art, with some peachy and pink colours with my new Ebay dotting tools. As for the technique - I just used the biggest dotting tool to create splodges all over my nails with Sinful Colors' Hazard.
Using the other nail polishes (Nails Inc's OMP, and Limited Collection's Pale Peach) and a small brush, I added random little lines all over the 'flowers' and finished them off with a darker splodge in the centre. For the leaves I mixed Nails Inc's Emerald Street and NYC's Blue Sky to create a pastel leafy colour.
What do you think of dark nail polishes?
