The Scarecrow

Last Halloween I posted a Minnie Mouse costume tutorial, and this year I wanted to post something equally as easy to create. I'm not entirely sure where the inspiration for this outfit came from, but it was so quick and simple to do. The hat and shirt both belong to my Dad, which meant this outfit literally cost nothing - hooray! Onto the products...

I'd originally planned on showing you a step by step tutorial, with instructions on how to recreate this look. However, it was very much a go with the flow - adding things here and there type of situation, so that idea quickly went out of the window. I think one of the reasons I love this look so much, is because I didn't have to buy an outfit nor any facepaint. Which means this is perfect for a last minute costume idea - there are only so many 'dead schoolgirls' or 'sexy (insert animal here)' you can have in one room.

Essentially, I applied Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow* all over my face, until I was happy with the coverage. Next came NYC's Sunny Bronzer. To start off with, I applied a thin layer all over my face, because I'm not too sure on how many Caspar coloured scarecrows there are out there in the scarecrow world. I then heavily contoured my face with the bronzer - on my cheekbones, temples and the sides of my nose.

Maybelline's On and On Bronze then went all over my lids, and I blended it all the way to my brows. I then used a whole variety of shades from the ELF 100 Palette, to add lots of dimension. I stuck to the browns, greys and purples to really give the effect of sunken, tired eyes.

I used the Chit Chat Gel Liner to line my eyes, but I also blended it into the crease. To create the various 'patches' I used Stay Flawless* as a base, as when first applied it's quite sticky. I then applied lots of shadows from the ELF palette on top. I then outlined and added the stitches with the aforementioned gel liner. I filled my brows in, really heavily with MUA's Shade 19 Eyeshadow to create a really harsh look to the face.

Pupa's Luminys eyeshadow was my nose colour of choice. I simply patted the colour all over my nose with the little doe foot applicator included in the compact. Finally for the lips, I used the 2 True Concealer to hide my natural lip colour and to create an even base. The Wet'n'Wild Eyeliner I bought in Florida, worked very well as a lip liner and a lip colour. For the stitches, I simply extended my natural lip line and added dashes for the stitches.

What do you think of this look?
