50 Shades

Nope, this isn't going to be a review of the infamous film that is currently splitting the nation. I haven't personally seen it, but from what I've heard it isn't that great. If you've seen it - I'd love to know what you thought of it.

Anyway, this Nailberry* polish in '50 Shades' is the closest I'm going to be getting to the trilogy. It's a gorgeous black shade, and it applies really well. It is on the pricier side at £13.50 apiece, but I have found it to last really well on the nails. I really like the packaging of these polishes, it's so simple and chic.

It is also free of; Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP and Camphor. Now, I'm going to be honest, I don't tend to look for that when buying a polish. I mean, yes it's obviously better for your nails or whatever, but it's never a necessity in my books. But since using this, I've figured it's probably best that I do - it applies no differently, which is something I was worried about.

Ceramic Blue

 My sister Holly bought me this nail polish for Christmas, and I've only just got around to giving it a go. Oooops, I think I need to find a better way to store my polishes. Does anyone else have this problem? So, if you have any genius way to store said pesky products, do let me know! I'd love to get more use out of them!

Ceramic Blue is the first and only polish I've ever tried from Maybelline's Forever Strong Pro line, and I actually quite like it. It's really glossy, and is completely opaque in two coats. I've actually run out of my trusty Seche Vite topcoat, but this polish is actually really chip resistant on its own. I've had it on my nails for quite a while now, but my nails still look - more or less - freshly painted.

Turquoise Shimmers

I bought Utopia and Turquoise Gloss during Model Own's infamous 50% off sale, and I've only just got around to trying the latter. It's from their Hypergel collection and I really like it. The formula is perfect, and it literally looks like a gel manicure.

On my accent nail is Utopia with a layer of this Kiko polish on top. I'm not sure of the shade as my Dad bought this for me while he was in Rome with work. But after a quick scour of the website, I think it's the shade 'Beige Chrome', which I'm currently in love with. It's definitely on the shortlist for my nail colour of choice, for prom.

The Christmas Day Nails

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Literally. I mean, 2 DAYS TILL SANTA. I've finally bought an outfit for the big day (nothing like leaving it to the last minute, hey), and have painted my nails ready. I've been debating glitter polish, but have decided to do some good ol' nail art.

Yay for Christmas pudding. Although not literally, I cannot stand the stuff. These nails were so easy to complete, and didn't take too long either. All it takes is a few dotting tools and polishes in the corresponding colours. I personally used: Nails Inc's Basil Street and Big Apple Red. For the leaves I used Rimmel's Block Your Green and Sinful Colors' Snow Me White for the cream.

Sinful Colors - My Thoughts...

I love a good bargain. £1.99 for a nail polish, Yes please. Sinful Colours have recently (well, in the last few months) hit Boots stores, from the good ol' US of A. I actually received a couple of the glitter shades from Jess last Christmas. So when I heard they were launching here in the UK, I got rather excited!

Metallic burgundy // Dancing Nails

White // Snow Me White

Blue glitter // Nail Junkie

Coral // Hazard

Royal blue // Why Not

Purple glitter // I Miss You

Packaging wise, I think the bottles are quite nice considering these come in at under £2 each. The creamy colours are really lovely. They're opaque in two coats and last really well on my nails, I mean a good week. However, one thing I should mention - 'Why Not' stained my nails a gorgeous blue hue. I'm not sure if it was just that particular shade/formula, but I thought I ought to let you know.

The metallic burgundy - 'Dancing Nails' can look rather streaky, so I tend to apply three coats of this particular shade. The two glitters are the longest lasting on my nails, and I love that the actual polish is coloured too. These aren't available in my local Boots, but they are in the larger stores. Which is why whenever I'm in London, I always have a quick browse of the stand, to see if there are any other shades that catch my eye.

So, overall, I think Sinful Colors polishes are lovely, and definitely worth having a look at! One word of warning however - be wary with the darker shades.

Winter Pastels

Yep. This is probably the least festive/autumnal nail ensemble going, but I just felt the need for springtime, baby pink nails. Oh and white, too. I really like how these polishes look together, and they're all under £2. Bargain!

If you've ever read any of my other nail art posts, you'll know that I'm loyal to Nails Inc. I just think their polishes are incredible! However, when I spotted the pink Wet'n'Wild in Florida for 99 cents, I just couldn't resist. The writing has since disappeared from the bottle, but I think this was called 'Tickled Pink.' The formula is really creamy and thick without being overly gloopy! So, if you ever get the chance to try out these polishes, I definitely recommend doing so!

The gold glitter I bought in Poundland on a whim months ago, and to be honest it isn't great. It's rather sticky and takes forever to dry, plus the glitter to polish ratio isn't favourable! But you know, for £1 I don't mind too much.

Sinful Colours: a brand I've only recently discovered. I bought this polish in Lonodn the other day, specifically for nail art, and it's lovely! It's really opaque and relative glossy! Plus, it's only £1.99! Good on you 'Snow Me White'.

My Autumn Nails Inc Favourites

T-B: Porchester Square, Palace Gardens Terrace, Basil Street, Queensgate Mews, Jermyn St

I absolutely love painting my nails, and Nails Inc is definitely one of my favourite nail polish brands. Don't get me wrong, I am typically, a budget beauty kinda gal, but we all love a good spend up here and there. And Nails Inc polishes are one of my favourite things to splurge on.

Porchester Square and Jermyn St are both minis, which are definitely the cutest things ever?! They're only 4ml, but surpringly these have lasted me ages. I'm not sure if you can buy these individually, but if you can I definitely recommend them as a way of trying a polish before purchasing it in all it's £11 splendour.

Basil Street came free with a Glamour magazine a while ago, and I definitely jumped on the £2 Nails Inc polish bandwagon. It's such a pretty nude colour, and I really like how it looks on my ghostly pale skintone.

Palace Gardens Terrace and Queensgate Mews are really pretty dark purple colours. QM has a really lovely metallic shine to it, where as PGT is a really creamy gel like berry colour.

I find these last about a week with a good topcoat, and are really opaque in two coats which makes them a dream to apply!

Simple Polka Dot Nail Art

While I was in London for the London Bloggy Meet Up, I popped into Boots and while I was there I picked up this gorgeous Sinful Colors polish.

It's a bright cobalt blue, otherwise known as 'Why Not?' The formulation is really creamy and is completely opaque in two coats. Considering these polishes are only £1.99 each they're definitely worth a look!

I then added some polka dots down the centre of the nail with Marks and Spencers pale peach, and the white dots were with MUA's All Nude nail polish. For a topcoat I used Seche Vite, and I love how glossy it looks over the top of any polish.

Seche Vite Topcoat Review

Seche Vite* is a product that is so hyped up, but for all the right reasons!

It's a really fast drying topcoat, that creates a really shiny glossy finish to the nails. I apply this to my nails and it literally dries to a hard finish in about 10 seconds. It makes any polish look like a gel manicure which is fab!

Price wise, it's not the cheapest of topcoats but it's definitely worth it! I think it retails for around £9 but I've seen it on Amazon for around £5.

As for preventing chipping, I think it does a great job! I find my polish lasts much longer on my nails when I use this and any chips are smaller than usual.

It does smell quite strong but luckily that fades at the topcoat dries.

3 Favourite Spring Nail Colours........

As most of you will already know I LOVE soft, pastel colours, and on my nails is no exception. It's fair to say I'm obsessed, so today I thought I'd show you my favourites.

The grey polish is from a Primark set last year, which unfortunately doesn't have a name. However it's really opaque in 2 coats and lasts really well on my nails without chipping. So definitely worth a look!

The mint polish is a relatively new purchase from NYC. I think it was £1.79? and I really love it! It's definitely the perfect mint shade for me. It's not too blue or too green. I featured this polish in this NOTD.

The pink polish I bought while I was on holiday in Florida, last August. I think it was around a dollar but is just as lovely as some of my Nails Inc polishes, which are 11 times the price. This is an opaque baby pink, and this is also really long lasting.

Mint Daisies........ A Nail Post

It was until recently, I discovered I didn't own any mint nail polishes. So yesterday, as well as our sunny day outside (which you can read about here) I bought a minty blue nail polish. The one I ended up purchasing was NYC's Blue Sky which is an absolute bargain at only £1.79. Also, it seems as though spring is finally here, as it was another lovely day here.

I painted all of my nails with two coats of Blue Sky. I then used MUA's All Nude nail polish with a dotting tool to create the polka dots, on all my nails except my accent nails.

To create the flowers I used the white nail polish and dotting tool again, but this time I used them to make lots of little splodges. The daisies were finished off with a little orange centre, and then a topcoat.

Burgundy Hues..

Today's post is going to be another NOTD.

 I haven't worn this nail polish for ages, to be quite honest I forgot I had it! It's a lovely deep purpley/black colour that is completely opaque in two coats. 

This combination is definitely one of my favourites! Despite being dark they're still quite subtle, and different at the same time.

The Nails Inc Polish is called Queensgate Mews. The 'Sinful Color' was one of the lovely things I received in my beauty swap with Jess. It's a beautiful glitter polish that really makes any nail colour look great. The glitter is a mix of lovely silver and pink flecks, they even look blue in some lights!

Nude Graffiti........ Nails Of The Day.

Today's post is going to be a nails of the day. Other than the Christmas Nailvent series I completed, there haven't been many nails of the days on my blog recently.

The polishes I used for this look were Nails Inc Basil Street and Nails Inc Camden Lock. Basil Street was one of the polishes that came free with Glamour Magazine quite a while ago - and was definitely worth the £2 price tag, as it's the perfect opaque nude colour. It's also the perfect shade for this sort of nail art.

You may recognise the glitter polish as I recently included it in my 'Christmas Haul' post. (If you haven't read it yet, you can do do here.) It's one of Nails Inc's newest limited edition polishes, it's from their 'Graffiti' range.

The shade I have is Camden Lock. Basically it's a clear polish with tons of glitter in it. The glitter is all different sizes, shapes and colours. Hence being called their 'Graffiti' polish. The main colours however are: yellow, green, red and blue.

 On the Nails Inc website it suggests using a white polish as the base coat. However, I personally thought it would look to summery considering it's the middle of winter. So I thought a nude base would be the next best thing.

Nailvent - A Final Round Up.....

Hi everyone, I can't believe it's Christmas Eve. It feels like just yesterday I was opening the first door on my advent calendar.....

Feeling Quirky...... A Nail Post

Today's post is going to be another nails of the day/nail tutorial. Despite winter well and truly creeping in I've been loving bright nail polishes.

This nail look is really easy and I think it looks really effective. It's based on this nail tutorial  but I have changed it a little bit.

For this nail art I used:

A nude pink polish.

5 bright coloured nail polishes.

❤ To create this nail art I started off by painting all my nails with the nude polish. ❤ Next I painted just over half of each nail with the bright polish. ❤ I then used a white polish to create the dots.I  didn't use a dotting tool for the dots, I just used the brush the nail polish comes with. ❤ Finally, I applied a topcoat.

One of the reasons I love this nail design is the fact that it's so colourful! But it can also be changed in many different ways... For example, completely different colours, only one nail with the dots and maybe even the same colours on every nail!
