ON: Realising You Don't Have A Hobby

Yep, I had that realisation the other day. Ed and I were sat waiting for a bus, talking about our friends, and the interesting hobbies they all have. It was at this point that we realised that I don't really have one.

I mean, I obviously have this; BF&L, but it's fair to say I haven't been too committed to it recently. And I like photography, but I always find myself reaching for my iPhone rather than my DSLR... I can longboard, but I wouldn't call that a hobby of mine as I literally just go from one place to another on it. I don't excel at any sports, and the ab challenge is hardly a hobby. Can Netflix be considered a hobby?

Obviously I can't write 'food' in the personal interests section of my UCAS application, so I think I'm going to have to set myself the challenge of finding a 'proper' hobby. So if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

  1. Blogging is definitely a hobby!!! Also, the camera doesn't matter, if you enjoy taking pics then photography is still one too :)

  2. Blogging is a hobby :) even if you are more sporadic with it at the moment. Some people have lots of little interests, and that's just as great as being intensely interested in one thing. Or you just haven't found the right hobby yet and there's nothing wrong with that! It's cool to dabble in and out of different things, I dabble with skateboarding too haha. I don't know what to suggest, just keep hunting out things. Food is deffo a hobby and an interest that can be shared! xo

  3. I definitely need a 'proper' hobby too! I never know what to say when people ask me 'what I do in my spare time' but photography is a good hobby! x

  5. Going to the cinema, eating out, listening to music, reading books and going to gigs are all hobbies! You don't need to have an award recognising how good you are or how regularly you do it, if you like it and do it every now and again then it's still a hobby :) x

  6. does vegetating while watching Netflix count as a hobby...? haha if so that's my fave one!

I'd say blogging was a hobby though, I don't do anything else other than blog and I think it would be a fab thing to add into a uni application because I think it's quite unique!

  7. I would definitely mention blogging as a hobby. It combines so many hobbies in one such as photography, reading, writing and even a little bit of design when it comes to creating your blog layout. I think it would look great on a uni application.

  9. Oh god I feel like this ALL the time - I would definitely consider Netflix being a hobby and if it is, I'm pretty darn good at it. I love longboarding and definitely consider it a hobby, especially in the summer. xx

  10. I always find it weird when people say they don't have a hobby because it gets me wondering what they actually do with their spare time. I guess also because I started cross stitching when I was 5 so while it's a hobby it's second nature. But as for hobbies - reading, baking/cooking, art, walking, sight seeing, crafting, watching films, visiting museums/art galleries.
