The Coral Trio

MUA - SHADE 7 // LIMITED COLLECTION - MELBA BLUSH // MAC - COSTA CHIC

I love coral lipsticks and they're definitely my favourite thing at the moment. But it wasn't until today, that I realised I have quite a few in the same sort of coral shade, but not only that, they're a variety of prices and brands. So I thought for today's post I'd do a little comparison - I'm just going to be focusing on my three favourites at the moment...

First up, the packaging. My favourite of the three, packaging wise, is definitely Melba Rose as it feels really good quality and I love how it's really quite unique. Of the other two, the Mac packaging is definitely my favourite, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't. I mean that extra £14 has to go somewhere doesn't it?!

Despite being similar shades, each lipstick has a different sort of finish. Shade 7 from MUA is a typical cream finish, Melba Blush is more glossy and Costa Chic is a frost. I personally find Mac's Costa Chic lasts longest on my lips, with shade 7 coming a close second. Because Melba Blush is glossier than the other two, I find that it doesn't last quite as long as the typical matte lipstick. However, all three lipsticks have the same sort of vanillary scent, which I personally love!

Finally, the price: MUA's beauty is only £1. So, if you don't typically wear coral colours but you'd like to give one a go this one's definitely for you! But if you'd prefer a more subtle glossier lipstick then Limited Collections lipsticks are £5 (what a bargain!!), which also puts them firmly on the budget end of the spectrum. Mac lipstick's are currently £15, but if you're wandering around looking for your next purchase - this could definitely be it!

  1. I'm building up my MUA lipstick collection, but I have never had the guts to wear Coral, but would love to try it out, even more so now after reading this post!
I agree that for a quid, it really is good value for your money and I love how they include a little pot of lippy at the bottom of the lipstick!
I think I will be purchasing Shade 7 this weekend and giving Coral a chance!

    Lovely blog too :)
