I don't know about you, but I certainly have times when I really fancy some chocolate cake - preferably some sort of brownie. But, the majority of the time, said cake is no where to be seen.
But, about a year ago I tried one of these cake in a mug recipes but it didn't go very well and tasted disgusting, which did sort of put me off baking it again, but I'm so glad I did.
I didn't exactly follow a recipe, I kind of looked at an ingredients list and went along with it.
What I definitely used though was:
1/4 cup of flour (I used half plain, half self-raising as I wasn't sure which one would be best)
1/4 cup of castor sugar
2 big tablespoons of cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of oil
A drizzle of water
And a handful of white chocolate chunks.
There is no fancy method to this - except all you do is add all the dry ingredients to a mug, then stir in the oil and water until it forms a thick paste. Sprinkle the chocolate on top, and cook. I cooked my mixture in 30 second intervals until it looked ready.
Now, this isn't the most amazing sponge I've ever eaten but it sure was fantastic for all of the 4 minutes it took to prepare!
Have you tried this recipe?
What do you think of microwave cake?
mmmm yummy!
